A Crow's Story
This digital installation is Tian's final project in Central Saint Martins MA Communication Design. This is an antique looking pop-up book with built-in sensors. Some images are printed on the paper and some are projected on it. By flipping the book and playing with the pop-up triggers, the characters start to move and talk on the pages and sometimes beyond the pages…There is no longer boundary between the real and the digital world…
Role: Concept, Design, Animation, Flash Programming, Narrative
This is a pop-up book with built-in sensors. Some images are printed on the paper and some are projected on it…
With built-in sensors, the crow and TV animation will be projected on the book when users turn to this page.
When users play with the pop-up triggers, for example turning the wheel on this page, the TV programme starts to play.
When the user opens the bird cages on the book, the projected crow flies away from the book to the desk and disappears. It blurs the boundary between the real and the digital worlds.
When the user pulls the crow's wing on the book, the projected landscape moves forward. Pull again to make the crow fly further.
When the user turns the wheel on the book, the projected TV programme starts to play. Turn the wheel again to switch it off.
